The landscape foreman is responsible for the completion of landscape installation and maintenance. The landscape foreman will be in charge of developing a team and ensuring they are on task and working cohesively. The landscape foreman is responsible for the skill development of his/her crew members. The foreman is responsible for completing landscape projects with quality, precision, and profitability.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically capable to perform necessary duties, which may require lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Experience in landscape hardscape installations and landscape maintenance
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Driver’s license and insurance coverage
  • Maintain a reliable transportation
  • Ability to train, direct, and encourage Team Members
  • Ability to work well with others including sub- contractors and vendors.
  • Understands and delivers quality work based on company standards
  • Ability to complete detailed paperwork daily
  • Have good time management skills
  • Ability to drive agency-provided work truck and trailer with equipment to each site
  • Possess the heart of a teacher
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency mission, vision and cultural values
  • Clearance of Central Registry and criminal background check
  • Have a clean and professional appearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Commercial Driver’s License preferred and clean driving record
  • Proficient heavy equipment operating skills including front end loaders and mini excavators.
  • Knowledgeable about maintaining landscaping equipment
  • 2 or more years leading a crew of 2-3 team members
  • Installation of natural stone and paver patios and walkways
  • Installation of modular block retaining walls
  • Installation of water features
  • Experience with snow removal operations
  • Michigan commercial applicators license
  • Knowledge of plants and biodiversity
  • Prior supervisory/management experience
  • Professional experience working within a team environment
  • Ability to identify risks on given projects and implement contingency plans based on risk analysis
  • Ability to manage conflict
  • Organizational skills
  • Some customer service experience preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled start time
  • Supervises landscape crew
  • Daily inspection of equipment prior to leaving grounds
  • Ensures daily use of PPE
  • Records all material expenses and man hours on each job
  • Performs some administration tasks as assigned by landscape manager
  • Is able to utilize sound judgment and make independent decisions
  • Holds safety in high regard
  • Ensures that all work is performed to company standards
  • Provides guidance to Team Members on the job
  • Ability to follow detailed directions from manager
  • Develop relationships with Team Members
  • Be able to train team members on best practices for installations and productivity
  • Meet weekly with landscape manager to discuss continuous improvement and quality assurance.
  • Submit requested documentation to Building Bridges administrative staff within required time frame
  • Maintain accurate records of team member hours, progress, and performance
  • Attend and participate in professional development trainings and department meetings as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned
This position reports to the Landscape Project Manager and supervises landscape team members

Pay Grade: $20.00- $25.00/hr depending on experience

Status: 40 + hours a week. Four ten-hour shifts. (Mon- Thursday) w/occasional Friday’s and Saturdays
